U.S. Teenager Jailed Three Years for Murder

A court in Mexico City with U.S. teen sentenced three years in prison for murder, hostage taking, and the cocaine trade.

Edgar Jimenez, 14, is nicknamed "El Ponchis" working for drug cartels of South Pacific in the state of Morelos, outside Mexico City, until finally arrested by Mexican soldiers in December last year. Ponchis was arrested when he tried to cross into the United States.

Office of the Attorney General in Morelos said Ponchis tried in a juvenile court. During the trial, the court found the juvenile had committed four crimes, including killing four people whose bodies were mutilated. The victim was found hanging from a bridge not far from Mexico City, in August last year.

This finding reinforced the army statement last December that Ponchis admitted killing at least seven people in a given condition affected drug cartel leader. For the error, Ponchis imprisoned three years in juvenile prison.
